Mission to the Bamboo Forest

We began our day in Gion, the most famous of Kyoto's geisha districts, admiring the traditional wooden houses an of course the Yasaka-no-to Pagoda.

The plan was to head to the Bamboo Forest which has been on my bucket list ever since watching Ninja Scroll, a Manga anime movie I have watched countless times. We decided to take the scenic route and jump on the Sagano Torokko AKA 'Romantic Train' which runs along the Hozuwgawa River between Arashiyama and Kameoka. After a little hike through some fields we made it to the Bamboo Forest and it is just as spectacular as I imagined all those years ago.
