No trip to UB would be complete without a trip to the huge outdoor bazaar Naran Tuul, otherwise known as the Black Market, in the east of the city.

It was a cold clear day when we went and late afternoon (after battling the hectic traffic) by the time we got in. We wandered through the endless aisles of designer fakes, rugs, cleaning products, antiques - pretty much everything that can be moved including a kitchen sink! - until we got to the traditional Mongolian products.

Camel and yak hair socks, dels (the local dress still favoured by Mongolians for warmth and practicality), wooden saddles and rows upon rows of beautiful handmade boots.
