Just over the river from our guest house lies the Discovery cafe which offers local coffee, Sambal eggs and plenty of old world charm.

Traffic is a little thick so I head down the Melaka River which was once dubbed the ‘Venice of the East’ by European seafarers, it is full of local arts and coffee shops and leads us to Christ Church in the old Dutch Square which is one of Melaka's most defining structures.

The Riverview Guest House and Hostel on Jalan Kampong Pantai Street is located in the UNESCO World Heritage area in the old part of Chinatown. This pre war shop house would do just fine for our little sojourn in Melaka.
